Performance line-up!

Dance amnesia
I can’t remember what I did on stage. I can’t step back into that moment, I can’t re-embody it… it’s a frustration with memory and with the past. That my body is so in the moment that it takes over my consciousness.
I acknowledge that this could be a general performer’s amnesia, but I don’t want to reduce it so quickly to a biological/adrenaline/chemical...

Things I noticed/thoughts I had:
1) I need to be able to do my splits./be a lot more flexible to feel like a more legitimate dancer.
2) I miss the unified movement that is absent from this piece.
3) Much of the really contemporary stuff I’m seeing has a lot of “acro”—pulling, climbing, or stacking on each other.

I knew this would happen.
As soon as I let myself start doing research, I would be lost in it. (I have homework to do!)
I got a nod to my first reference (“Bodies of the Text: Dance as Theory, Literature as Dance,”) and found my way to the dance section—a full six half-rows, stuck between the magic trick and Broadway sections. I noticed a couple things:
1) Most of the dance books just look so cool....

The fourth performance down looks awesome, but the 20 second clip is so unsatisfying.
My twenty-first century demand for access to everything (free of pay) thinks, this should be available for me to see, in its entirety. But what would that mean for dancers? That they would go the way of musicians, and have their performances commodified and spread electronically? The aura of performance...
